Vasectomy: Myth vs. Fact
There is going to be a lot of pain.
Most patients only experience minor discomfort during the procedure. We strive to make our patients as comfortable as possible.
A vasectomy will decrease my sex drive.
Vasectomies have not been shown to be associated with a decreased sex drive. There is some literature regarding an increase in intercourse among couples after vasectomy.
Women should be responsible for family planning
Vasectomies are more dependable than any other form of contraception including female sterilization. It eliminates risks associated with hormones normally found in female contraception methods.
Vasectomy carries less risk compared to female sterilization as tubal ligation is normally done under general anesthesia and still considered an invasive procedure in the operating room.
