The Everett Clinic has a long-standing history of a commitment to quality and excellence in the care we deliver to our patients. Our oncology department is no different. In 2007, The Everett Clinic partnered with Providence Regional Cancer Partnership to deliver comprehensive, regional care designed exclusively for the cancer patient and family with integrated and seamless medical oncology, radiation oncology, surgical oncology, integrative medicine, and behavioral health care services. Bringing all of these disciplines together allowed us to really focus on quality and outcomes for our patients that rival nationally recognized institutions
Optimal clinical outcomes for our patients is paramount in the care we deliver. To ensure we deliver the most comprehensive care with the highest quality standards we benchmark ourselves to other cancer centers and systems through certification through accrediting bodies. This allows us to objectively improve and maintain quality and safety standards in the care we deliver.
In 2014 we obtained Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI) Certification from the American Society of Clinical Oncology. This certification is renewed every three years nationally recognizing us for high quality outpatient hematology and oncology care. We have on site surveys and are evaluated annually on over 150 clinical measures that benchmark us against other oncology practices across the nation to validate our top-notch care promoting appropriate diagnosis, treatment, and resource utilization. We are in our 7th year of this program and use the information we obtain from our benchmarking reporting to inform quality improvement activities throughout our program.
The Commission on Cancer (CoC), an accreditation program of the American College of Surgeons, recognizes cancer care programs for their commitment to providing comprehensive, high-quality, and multidisciplinary patient centered care through an onsite survey and benchmarking data collected every three years. The CoC standards set a framework for our program so that we are providing high-quality, patient-centered care. The CoC is dedicated to improving survival rates and quality of life for cancer patients through setting standards on prevention, research, education, and monitoring. Providence has been accredited since 1978 and we became part of their accreditation when we joined the partnership in 2007.
Maintaining accreditation and certification allows us to demonstrate our commitment to quality and safe patient care. We utilize our learnings form the data collected to inform our clinical practice, improvement efforts, prevention screening, and community education. We encourage our patients to participate fully in their care, while providing them with resources and comprehensive care to make the best decisions on their treatment. We are proud to be able to provide quality and effective cancer care that is evidence based and validated in the greater oncology community.
