Joanne Thambuswamy, MD
"My philosophy has always been “patient first, team second.” I feel that as long as I keep those 2 things in mind, all of the decisions fall into place."
Women’s health was kind of my first love, and I quickly became interested in doing procedures. I feel like that is a primary care doc’s main opportunity for instant gratification! I then became very involved with and passionate about LGBTQ medicine and have worked on an initiative to improve healthcare for the LGBTQ community during residency. I also had the opportunity to work with a truly gifted pediatrician that has made me comfortable with working with children, which I also love. I like to say that I chose Family Medicine because I am a greedy person. I love so many different aspects of medicine and really did not want to have to give anything up! When I had to make a decision, the option of giving up the OR in order to do everything else really felt right for me.
Why The Everett Clinic?
As I was looking around at different practices, I knew that I wanted a lot of autonomy to engage the community and to practice medicine with my particular interests at the forefront. I was impressed by The Everett Clinic's commitment to doing the right thing for patients and fostering teammate’s interests and goals in medicine.
